LABOUR MATTERS

INTRODUCTION

All Employers intending to employ Tanzanians they should follow this guideline in the whole process of recruitment. Failure to adhere to this guideline will render the whole process being illegal .

PROCEDURES

Any one intending to employ a Tanzanian is required to follow the following procedure during the process :-

  • Fill in application form, contract form and sponsor undertaking form which are available at the Embassy or its authorized Agent, all forms must be type written and attested by Recruitment Agency and by the Embassy upon payment of attestation fee
  • Recruitment procedure must be done through registered recruitment Agent, no personal direct hire will be accepted by the Embassy
  • Before the Employee depart from Tanzania or wherever is being recruited from must receive and counter sign Employment contact at the Government office responsible for employment matters
  • After the employee signed the contact, the contract will be attested by responsible Agency upon payment of attestation fee
  • The employee upon arrival in the Sultanate must be met at the airport by the agent or its representative and not the sponsor and will later be handled over to the sponsor by the Agent at the office
  • All persons wishing to employ Tanzanian will be required to pay a refundable deposit as determined and revised by the Embassy from time to time

REGISTRATION OF HOUSEMAID

  • Pursuant to instruction on page number 47 on Tanzanian passport, all Tanzanian living in the Foreign country, Oman being one of them must register themselves at the Embassy of Tanzania , this is the duty and must and not an optional
  • Sponsors personally must bring their housemaid at the Embassy within thirty days since arrival in the Sultanate, a sponsor who failed to bring the maid within 30 days his deposit of 100 Oman Rials will be forfeited .
  • Please note that the Embassy has set two days in a week for registration and counseling of Tanzanian living in Oman, these days are Monday and Wednesday from 10.00am to 12.00 Noon, no registration will be done before and after mentioned time or in other days
  • When employee is brought to Embassy for registration, the following documents must brought to be attached to the registration form:-
  1. Original and Copy of employee?s passport including visa page
  2. Original and copy of Employee ID card and 2 passport size photos
  3. Telephone number in the name of employee
  4. Proof of Bank Account in name of employee
  5. Insurance certificate for Employee

TRANSFER OF SPONSORSHIP AND VISA CANCELLATION

  • When Employer wishes to release the employee to another sponsor, he must bring back the employee to the Embassy to obtain release clearance form, in order for the Embassy to issue clearance certificate, sponsor must bring bank statement of employee?s bank account showing that he have paid the employee all money due from him and that there is no outstanding claims between them
  • When Employee have completed her employment contract or her contract have been terminated, the sponsor must bring the employee to the Embassy to obtain departure clearance form, in order for the Embassy to issue clearance certificate, sponsor must bring bank statement of employee?s bank account showing that he have paid the employee all money due from him and that there is no outstanding claims between them
  • It is emphasized that Authorities in the Sultanate of Oman will not cancel visa or transfer sponsorship without clearance certificate from the Embassy
